Second scenery and updated textures

Second scenery and updated textures

And here it is! Finally I found some time to update the blog.
Recently I had some busy days and not much time to post updates. Also consider the second scenery was ready more than a week ago, but unfortunately I wasn’t able to update both the game and the blog during this time… Well, that’s enough, let’s get back on the game:

As you can see, the second scenery takes place in a peaceful creek surrounded by a cliff, just before the sunset.A nice break from the previous city beach! Other two screenshots of this scenery can be found at the end of the post.

Also, I changed the “dirt” texture on the sand. The previous one looked more like a generic dirty terrain, but the actual one gives a better impression of being granulated sand. Here it is a screenshot:

The only downside of this texture is that it looks kinda blurry when seen from a near distance (you can notice it in the screenshot above). But since I prefer this texture to the old one (it looks way better!), I will leave it as it is. I really can’t use a bigger resolution one since this one is already 2048*2048. Anyways the best look for the texture is achieved on the iPad, because the viewer’s camera is placed at an higher point of view.

Apart from graphics, I’m currently reworking the loading mechanics, since I noticed the game crashes when the iDevice is short on memory (i.e. after a full day of use with Safari and other Apps). It turned out to be a little more difficult than I expected, but it doesn’t matter, I’ll fix this too. :D

Honestly, the development is going on quite slowly lately, due to some small daily works that break my programming workflow… I hope the days following will be a bit more peaceful, but I dunno, it’s Christmas time… :P

That’s all for today, see you in the next update! Stay tuned and get ready for Christmas! ^_^
